Here is why we think Martina is the perfect fit for the Nau-Ti-Gal!

What was your first job in the hospitality industry?

Busser/Dishwasher at age 15

At what age did you become interested in this industry? What made you decide?

Age 4. My parents ran a supper club. Dad was Chef, Mom Head Waitress. I marveled at my mom carrying three plates on one arm and one on the other!

Tell us about some of your past jobs.

I worked several jobs in bars and restaurants during my teens and early 20’s including The Round Barn and Arthur’s near Spring Green. I also managed the infamous Don Q Inn Hotel. In 2001 I switched to healthcare but continued to own and operate my own wedding and event planning business. Eventually, I felt a desire to return to the hospitality field.

How did you get involved with von Rutenberg Ventures?

At the request of a friend, I helped out at Mariner’s in a variety of positions during Restaurant Week in January 2017. I knew immediately that VRV was a good fit for my career goals and would allow me to fulfill the passion I have for creating a wonderful experience for each and every guest I encounter. After filling a number of roles at Mariner’s and Betty Lou Cruises, I was named manager of Nau-Ti-Gal in the fall of 2017.

What do you like to do when you are not at work?

We are a huge sports family. My most valued way to spend my time is to watch and support my children in their various sports and activities. I also enjoy the live, local music scene that Madison has to offer.

Favorite food?

A comfort dish my Dad made called Chicken Fricassee. However, I am also a big fan of Bill von Rutenberg’s Jerk Chicken Wings at Nau-Ti-Gal (shameless plug, but I really do love them!!!).

What do you like the most about working at von Rutenberg Ventures?

The family atmosphere created by the von Rutenberg family. What has always stuck with me are the values that they have shown me in wanting to create a wonderful experience for each and every guest. I am proud to say I am a part of this team!
